Sam Tudor grew up at a forestry camp outside of Williams Lake, British Columbia. During long bus rides in the dark he developed a love of music, poetry, and old science fiction novels. In 2011 he commandeered a microphone and a computer and recorded some folk songs in a storage cupboard at his high school. Williams Lake became testing grounds for many unorthodox and poorly done recordings. Four years later, Sam is an active musician, writer, and film composer in Vancouver. His latest album Modern New Year cemented his place as one of Vancouver’s “most idiosyncratic and special songwriters”(Discorder Magazine), well received by critics and a cult hit on radio stations across the country. A poignant songwriter, Sam writes songs that are both unpredictable and easy to join in on. Backed by a stellar live band, his show is communal, anthemic, and a little strange.
