John and Tony Kastelic left their home in the South Alberta prairies and made their way to the West Coast, forming No Mothers on the audacious hunch that a band fronted by two violists could folk-rock with the best of them. Let’s face it — stereo-viola folk rock is a bizarre and delightful stretch of the imagination.
