Emily Cars is the latest musical project of Bobby Herron and Meaghan Cursons. They craft songs inside their laboratory somewhere in Cumberland, BC and perform them for love or money. They’ve been singing and performing together for more than a decade and Bobby has been writing, recording, touring and collecting coasters for decades before that.
The Emily Cars are a left coast acoustic folk-pop duo from Vancouver Island writing and playing adventurous tunes about topics ranging from historical nudity and spontaneous human combustion to ride on lawn mowers, yes men and space travel. They offer up well-crafted arrangements, powerful vocals, lush harmonies and highly original lyrics with 2 voices accompanied by driving rhythm guitar. For over a decade the two (Bobby Herron and Meaghan Cursons) fronted Vancouver Island based band bigredtruck touring across BC and Alberta and playing festivals including North Country Fair, Vancouver Island MusicFest, Sunshine Music Festival, Midsummer Festival in Smithers and the Big Time Out as well as crazy shows at Vancouver’s Railway Club, the Legendary Waverley Hotel in Cumberland, The Heriot Bay Inn (Quadra island) and beyond! Bobby’s musical adventures reach back into Vancouver punk ska scene and includes an epic chapter as lead singer for the B-Sides. The Emily Cars deliver fresh, punchy (and sometimes punky) songs that appeal to music lovers from diverse, and even divergent, sensibilities. Inspired by tunes from artists ranging from the Talking Heads and Elvis Costello to the New Pornographers, the Emily Cars are often joined by drums, cello and various stringed and percussive friends.
